Snowmen at Night: writing and art

Last week we read the book Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner. It is a wonderful story that tells what a child thinks his snowmen does while he's sleeping! The kids love the book! Next we had a wonderful time brainstorming what our snowmen might do at night including eating ginger snap cookies, singing karaoke, playing monopoly and having snowball fights. Since we are working on transition words, we practiced using first, next and last. We used a snowman graphic organizer to write our ideas. Next we added details in our rough draft. Once we'd edited and attempted to revise we wrote our rough drafts. I found really cute tear art snowmen on Pinterest and we made our version with glitter snowflakes! It's an awesome bulletin board with great stories!
